On Tuesday 22 February 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 798 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 986 fatalities (one new death since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.
798 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 3,082 tests carried out the day before, representing 125.72 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 25.90%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 556.71.
A total of 33 people are in hospital with the virus, including nine patients in intensive care.
There are currently 10,466 active infections known, whilst a total of 167,853 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.92
A total of 1,260,842 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (478,056 first doses, 425,868 second doses, 356,918 additional doses). A total of 467,347 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 129.47; for vaccinated individuals, this was 124.26. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
