On Thursday 3 February 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 1,994 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 956 fatalities (no new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
1,994 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 6,222 tests carried out the day before, representing 314.15 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 32.06%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 1871.00.
A total of 82 people are in hospital with the virus, including twelve patients in intensive care.
There are currently 32,354 active infections known, whilst a total of 130,670 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.87.
A total of 1,235,138 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (475,631 first doses, 419,420 second doses, 340,087 additional doses). A total of 460,861 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 467.88; for vaccinated individuals, this was 250.97. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
