On Wednesday 2 February 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 2,548 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 956 fatalities (three new deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.

2,548 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 6,806 tests carried out the day before, representing 401.43 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 37.44%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 2018.86. 

A total of 83 people are in hospital with the virus, including thirteen patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 32,904 active infections known, whilst a total of 128,126 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.94.

A total of 1,232,509 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (475,495 first doses, 418,934 second doses, 338,080 additional doses). A total of 460,371 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 586.44; for vaccinated individuals, this was 325.12. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
