On Friday 21 May 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 56 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 810 fatalities (one new death since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
56 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 14,467 tests carried out the day before, representing 8.82 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 0.39%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 67.71.
A total of 45 people are in hospital with the virus, including seventeen patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Thursday 20 May 2021, there are currently 1,573 active infections known, whilst a total of 67,162 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.74.
As of Thursday, a total of 309,633 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (216,030 first doses, 93,603 second doses); 2,739 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 2,831 received their second dose on Thursday.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
