On Wednesday 19 May 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 159 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 808 fatalities (no new deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
159 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 9,931 tests carried out the day before, representing 25.05 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.60%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 75.00.
A total of 59 people are in hospital with the virus, including 21 patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Tuesday 18 May 2021, there are currently 1,787 active infections known, whilst a total of 66,803 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.81.
As of Tuesday, a total of 297,351 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (209,494 first doses, 87,857 second doses); 4,624 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 1,221 received their second dose on Tuesday.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
