Luxembourg's Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth has published statistics on the evolution of the COVID-19 situation in schools across the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for the period 15-21 March 2021.
The figures for students and teachers testing positive for COVID-19 relate to all public and private basic / primary and secondary schools and competence centres in specialised psychopedagogy located across Luxembourg.
During the week of 15 to 21 March 2021:
• 300 positive cases corresponding to scenario 1 were counted in 80 primary schools, 39 secondary schools and two competence centres (scenario 1: pupil or teacher infected outside the school without there having been a spread of the virus at school).
• 53 cases corresponding to scenario 2 were observed in 12 primary schools, 12 secondary schools and one competence centre (scenario 2: maximum two positive cases in a class with an uncertain source of infection or probably outside the class).
• 38 cases corresponding to scenario 3 were identified in six primary schools and seven secondary schools (scenario 3: three to five positive cases in a class).
• Scenario 4 concerns six pupils in a primary education class this week (scenario 4: chain of infection within a school: several classes concerned or a class with more than five cases).
On 10 March, a student tested positive in a primary education class at the École Internationale de Mondorf-les-Bains. The class was suspended. Tests carried out on 15 March identified six other positive students. The class was then quarantined until 22 March.
