On Friday 17 July 2026, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) officially inaugurated the renovated clubhouse of the non-profit organisation Hondsfrënn Bouneweg dog training club at Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.
According to VdL, the facility, located at 68 Rue de Pulvermühl, was going through an extensive renovation and accessibility upgrade, which took place from May 2025 to June 2026.
The site has a long history dating back to 1860, when the land, which originally included a wooden chalet, began serving as a dog training facility for the Hondssportveräin Pulvermühl. Renamed Hondsfrënn Bouneweg in 2012, the club now has around 60 members, operates puppy, dog and police dog training schools, and regularly takes part in competitions and championships.
The current building was constructed in 1970 and underwent roof repairs in 2013 after being damaged by a fallen tree. In 2019, a storage container was added to house equipment used for maintaining the grounds and supporting the club's activities.
Before renovation works on the clubhouse began, the VdL's Forestry Department stabilised the cliff behind the building between January and May 2025 to ensure the site's safety.
According to the VdL, the project included asbestos removal, new flooring and wall finishes, roof insulation, a new heating and ventilation system, upgraded electrical installations, a new kitchen and bar, renovated sanitary facilities, including accessible toilets for people with reduced mobility, enhanced fire safety systems, improved security features, new emergency exits and lighting, an external access ramp, as well as lighting for the training grounds and access path.
The renovated building comprises a large hall of 82 m², a 22 m² meeting room, a kitchen, technical room, storage space, garage and sanitary facilities.
The VdL estimated the renovation cost at €750,000 (excluding VAT), adding that the project was managed by the VdL's Architecture Directorate and Sports Department, with numerous specialist contractors contributing to the works.
