The Luxembourg Federation of Education and Child Care Services (FELSEA) has issued a press release / open letter in which it states that, in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, nurseries and private foyers are sounding the alarm concerning not being heard and listened to by the Minister of National Education, Children and Youth.
Since the start of the health crisis linked to the COVID-19 epidemic, private foyers and nurseries have been in turmoil. Currently open, but rarely full, the FELSEA claims that childcare facilities are suffering the brunt of the collateral damage caused by government health restrictions.
Signed by Arthur Carvas, FELSEA President, the statement continues "Nurseries and private foyers are essential partners for all of the country's economic players. And yet ... Supported too weakly and unequally by the state, the structures are running out of steam. On the verge of rupture, the suffering managers are launching a cry of alarm to the Minister of National Education, Children and Youth, Mr. Claude Meisch: "We wish to be considered like any other sector of activity, be at the negotiating table, no longer be used only as a vehicle for communication with our members and no longer be subjected to last-minute decisions. Several of our letters remain unanswered. Are we well regarded as delegates of Public Service Mission?"."
The FELSEA also claims that being the only economic sector deprived of short-time work, it is again inviting - though an open letter - the Government to exchange views in full consultation to choose options aimed at protecting and supporting reception structures, employees and quality reception for our children and their parents.
