Luxembourg's Ministry of State and the Ministry of Health have confirmed that the first invitations will be sent out by the end of this week to people included in phase two of the national vaccination campaign.

The second phase of the Grand Duchy's vaccine rollout strategy targets two groups of residents: those aged 75 and over (by age in descending order) and those who are considered highly vulnerable due to a pre-existing health condition. The latter group includes adults with trisomy 21, organ transplant recipients (and those on a waiting list), hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients (during the first six months or in the case of immunosuppressive treatment), cancer patients undergoing treatment (i.e. chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy) and people with congenital immunodeficiencies.

Residents aged 75 and over will receive an invitation from the Ministry of Health by post. They can then make an appointment at the vaccination centre of their choice. Personalised assistance is also being offered through a hotline specially set up for this purpose via tel.: 247-65533.

Cancer patients who are regularly monitored in one of the country's oncology departments will be invited to get vaccinated directly by the hospital where they are being treated. Other people considered to be highly vulnerable can register for vaccination via their general practitioner or specialist doctor from 1 March 2021. They will then receive an invitation by post.

The Ministry of Health also announced that two new vaccination centres in the north and east of the country will open on 25 February 2021. The centre located in the sports hall of the Centre Hospitalier Neuro-Psychiatrique (CHNP) in Ettelbruck will open its doors at 08:00 and the other centre in the Badboeschelchen Scout chalet in Mondorf-les-Bains will be operational from 13:00.

From 26 February 2021, the opening hours will be the same for all vaccination centres in Luxembourg: Mondays from 13:00 to 19:00, Tuesday to Friday from 07:00 to 19:00 and Saturdays from 07:00 to 13:00.
