On Friday 29 January 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 160 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 577 fatalities (three new deaths since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
160 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 8,879 tests carried out the day before, representing 25.55 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.80%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 135.57.
A total of 65 people are in hospital with the virus, including twelve patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Thursday 28 January 2021, there are currently 2,196 active infections known, whilst a total of 47,615 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.08.
To date, a total of 11,373 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg; 781 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 141 received their second dose on Thursday 28 January 2021.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
