On Saturday 16 January 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 135 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 552 fatalities (three more deaths since Friday) resulting from the virus to date.
135 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Saturday from a total of 8,074 tests carried out the day before, representing 21.56 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.67%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
84 people are in hospital with the virus, including 18 patients in intensive care. There are currently 2,427 active infections known, whilst a total of 45,654 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 125.86.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.86.
To date, a total of 3,233 people have received the COVID-19 vaccine in Luxembourg; 362 vaccinations were carried out on Thursday 14 January 2021.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
