On Friday 15 January 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 143 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 549 fatalities (four more deaths since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
143 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 7,376 tests carried out the day before, representing 22.84 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.94%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
89 people are in hospital with the virus, including 21 patients in intensive care. There are currently 2,427 active infections known, whilst a total of 45,654 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 126.00. One week ago this figure was 131.71 and two weeks ago it was 155.57.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.86.
To date, a total of 3,233 people have received the COVID-19 vaccine in Luxembourg; 362 vaccinations were carried out on Thursday 14 January 2021.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
