On Wednesday 6 January 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 281 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 517 fatalities (three more deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
281 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 12,244 tests carried out the day before, representing 44.88 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 2.30%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
104 people are in hospital with the virus, including 28 patients in intensive care. There are currently 3,201 active infections known, whilst a total of 43,712 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 144.86. One week ago this figure was 171.71 and two weeks ago it was 337.71.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.90.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
