On Tuesday 5 January 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 163 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 514 fatalities (six more deaths since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.
163 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 9,318 tests carried out the day before, representing 26.03 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.75%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
123 people are in hospital with the virus, including 32 patients in intensive care. There are currently 3,167 active infections known, whilst a total of 43,468 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 151.29. One week ago this figure was 182.29 and two weeks ago it was 365.57.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 1.01.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
