On Saturday 2 January 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 21 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 503 fatalities (two more deaths since Friday) resulting from the virus to date.
21 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Saturday from a total of 337 tests carried out the day before, representing 3.35 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 6.23%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
125 people are in hospital with the virus, including 32 patients in intensive care. On 29 December, there were 4,942 active infections known, whilst a total of 40,978 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 151.14. One week ago this figure was 244.14 and two weeks ago it was 399.14.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.75.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
