1st COVID-19 Vaccines Administered in Luxembourg

Luxembourg's Ministry of State and Ministry of Health have confirmed that the first COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the Grand Duchy, today, as scheduled.

Catarina Fernandes, nurse and Head of the Infectious Diseases Unit including COVID-19, and Kevin Nazzaro, nurse of the Infectious Diseases Unit including COVID-19, are the first people who have been vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) at the Hall Victor Hugo vaccination centre in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.

As foreseen in the vaccination strategy, the first people to be vaccinated are health professionals and hospital staff, as well as ambulance attendants, staff in accommodation facilities for the elderly as well as support and care networks, and also people residing in these same residences.

Around 800 people from the hospital sector, i.e. 200 people per acute hospital establishment, are being vaccinated on 28 and 29 December. On Wednesday 30 December, it will be the turn of staff at the accommodation facilities for the elderly, with around 400 vaccinations planned. In addition, paramedics transporting COVID-19 patients are being offered the vaccination during these three days.

For the socio-professional categories targeted, both residents and cross-border workers will be covered by the vaccine allocation plan.
