On Sunday 27 December 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 54 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections, with 52 on 26 December and 253 on 25 December; there have been 478 fatalities (seventeen more deaths since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
54 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 1,101 tests carried out the day before, representing 8.62 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 4.91%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
118 people are in hospital with the virus, including 34 patients in intensive care. On 22 December, there were 7,177 active infections known, whilst a total of 37,574 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 191.29.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.86.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
