On Wednesday 23 December 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 400 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 458 fatalities (five more deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
400 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 15,372 tests carried out the day before, representing 63.89 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 2.60%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
192 people are in hospital with the virus, including 40 patients in intensive care. There are 7,177 active infections known, whilst a total of 37,574 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 337.71.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.86.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
