On Friday 18 December 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 449 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 434 fatalities (six more deaths since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
449 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 13,015 tests carried out the day before, representing 71.71 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 3.45%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
226 people are in hospital with the virus, including 43 patients in intensive care. There are 8,057 active infections known, whilst a total of 35,237 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 424.57.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.80.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
