On Wednesday 16 December 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 595 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 421 fatalities (three more deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
595 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 13,900 tests carried out the day before, representing 95.03 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 4.28%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
235 people are in hospital with the virus, including 48 patients in intensive care. There are 8,504 active infections known, whilst a total of 33,920 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period), excluding Wednesday 9 December 2020 (for which figures remain unknown), is currently 439.29.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.96.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
