On Monday 14 December 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 182 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 410 fatalities (eight more deaths since Sunday) resulting from the virus to date.
182 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Monday from a total of 1,313 tests carried out the day before, representing 29.07 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 13.86%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
239 people are in hospital with the virus, including 50 patients in intensive care. There are 8,123 active infections known, whilst a total of 33,367 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) in cases remains unknown, as the figures for Wednesday 9 December 2020 have yet to be published and those for other recent days have not yet been updated. Last week, the Ministry of Health reported that the unavailability of daily reports and detailed statistical data was due to technical issues.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.87.
Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
