Centre Hospitalier du Nord Cancels, Postpones All Non-Urgent Operations

Luxembourg's Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN) has announced that it is cancelling or delaying all non-urgent operations in order to best respond to the high number of new COVID-19 infections.

The CHdN confirmed on social media that the hospital had reached its limits, following a recent increase in the number of COVID-19 patients. As of Thursday 10 December 2020, the CHdN was providing treatment for a total of 65 coronavirus patients, including twelve in intensive care.

In order to continue to support its teams, guarantee enough beds and respond to emergencies, the CHdN management decided on Tuesday 8 December 2020 to close several operating rooms in Ettelbruck and to completely close operating rooms in Wiltz. All non-urgent operations are therefore postponed or cancelled at present.

The CHdN assured that urgent interventions (including those for cancer patients) would continue.

Patients whose operations have now been postponed or cancelled will be contacted via telephone by the hospital.
