On Thursday 10 December 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 480 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 384 fatalities (nine more deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
480 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 8,336 tests carried out the day before, representing 76.66 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 5.76%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
216 people are in hospital with the virus, including 47 patients in intensive care.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 1.00.
The Ministry of Health reported that, due to technical issues, daily reports and detailed statistical data are currently not available. As such, it is not known how many active infections there are at present nor how many people have recovered from the virus to date. As of Sunday 6 December 2020, there were 9,246 active infections, whilst 29,896 people had recovered from the virus.
With neither the figures for Tuesday 8 nor Wednesday 9 December 2020 having been updated yet, it is not possible to determine the average daily increase (over a 7-day period) at this time.
Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
