On Wednesday 2 December 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 672 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 334 fatalities (four more deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.

672 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 11,502 tests carried out the day before, representing 72.03 per 107.33 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 5.84. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) in cases is now 528.57; the record of 678.57 was set on 3 November 2020. 

210 people are in hospital with the virus, including 41 patients in intensive care. As at Tuesday 1 December, there were 8,971 active infections known, whilst a total of 26,497 people have recovered from the virus to date. 

The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 1.04.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
