On Wednesday 18 November 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 891 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 248 fatalities (eight more deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
A new record of 891 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 14,247 tests carried out the day before, representing 2,275 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 6.25. The previous record high of daily cases (862) was observed on 24 October 2020.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) in cases is now 579.14; the record of 678.57 was set on 3 November 2020.
247 people are in hospital with the virus, including 48 patients in intensive care. There are currently 9,821 active infections known, whilst a total of 18,504 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.95.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
