The Luxembourg Army has set up twelve distribution sites for disposable surgical masks destined for cross-border workers.
As part of the second phase of Luxembourg's lockdown exit strategy, which starts on Monday 11 May 2020, the government announced last week that all cross-border workers who work in the Grand Duchy will receive a batch of 50 disposable surgical masks.
In this context, the army has set up twelve distribution sites for surgical masks across the country for cross-border workers. The sites will be operational from 11 May and will remain open daily until 24 May 2020.
All cross-border workers will receive a letter with a voucher to be able to collect their surgical masks at one of the sites of their choice. This can be done within two weeks of receipt of the letter. In order to avoid an excessive influx on the same date, letters will be sent sequentially over five days.
The army will regulate the flows at the various centres and will ensure compliance with sanitary conditions. They will also ensure (using electronic means) that this withdrawal voucher cannot be used twice.
This measure put in place by the army will allow Luxembourg's 205,000 cross-border workers to prepare themselves for the upcoming second phase of deconfinement. The total volume includes ten million surgical masks which will be distributed during the two weeks.
