A partnership announced on Friday between the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology and the Agence eSanté will mark an important step in LIST's ensured compliance of the open-source medical service management software GECAMed.

The agreement was signed by LIST and the Agence eSanté on Friday 30 October 2015, representing another collaboration in a series of long-term partnerships between the two agencies in the field of health information technology.

The agreement for the GECAMed medical practice management software, which in its next version will incorporate multiple features of the Shared Care Record (DSP) proposed by the national eSanté platform, forms part of the pilot phase of the deployment of DSP in Luxembourg.

The DSP will comprise electronic personal health files secured by the patient and will be accessible by patient and health professionals alike. The patient will therefore by given access rights and will have all their essential health information centralised to create better coordination.

The integration of the DSP service into GECAMed is the result of close collaboration between LIST researchers and teams at the Agence eSanté. For its compliance, the software has been subjected to a set of rigorous conformance tests defined at the Agence eSanté.

GECAMed is becoming the first industry solution for physicians conforming to DSP in Luxembourg by integrating patient data in a user-friendly and transparent way for health professionals, whilst guaranteeing the protection of health information of patients. The idea will be to promote exchanges between health players to allow for the better coordinated management of the patient.

The new version of the GECAMed medical practice management software, which integrates the full range of DSP services, will soon be available to download for free from the www.gecamed.lu website.

GECAMed is now used by more than 15% of general practitioners in Luxembourg and is deployed in all medical centres across the country.
