On Monday 12 October 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported on the annual meeting of the Fingerprint Working Group (FINWG) of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI), which took place at the Technopolis administrative centre in Gasperich from Wednesday 7 to Friday 9 October.

The meeting, this year organised by the Grand Ducal Police, provided a platform for exchanging experiences, strengthening existing international contacts and intensifying cooperation in the field of forensic science.

The Grand Ducal Police reported that during the three-day event, forensic science specialists came together to exchange information on current developments, methods and best practices in fingerprint analysis. Particular emphasis was placed on international cooperation, the further development of common standards, the latest advances in fingerprint visualisation, and studies into the frequency and rarity of certain types of minutiae and the characteristic features of fingerprints.

The programme included various presentations, workshops and working sessions. These were complemented by an exhibition featuring specialist suppliers, offering participants additional opportunities to exchange knowledge and expertise. Alongside the professional programme, the meeting also provided a good opportunity to learn more about Luxembourg and the Grand Ducal Police. On the first day of the event, participants took part in a guided tour of the capital.

On the evening of Thursday 8 October, the participants gathered for a gala dinner at the Luxembourg Police headquarters in Findel.
