On Sunday 13 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that a number of break-ins took place across Luxembourg on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, with two suspects arrested in Garnich.
According to the police, on Saturday 12 September, vehicle break-ins were reported on Boulevard Prince Henri and Boulevard Grand-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg City, and on 13 September 2026 on Rue Neiduerf in Esch-sur-Alzette. In all cases, the vehicle windows were smashed to gain access to the interior and steal valuables and vehicle documents. Investigations have been launched.
Also on Saturday 12 September, break-ins at single-family homes were reported on Rue de Mondercange in Differdange, Rue de l’Orée in Schrassig, and Rue J-A Zinnen in Olm.
On Sunday 13 September, similar break-ins were reported on Rue de Keispelt in Kehlen and Beiricher Strooss in Hachiville.
In all cases, the perpetrators managed to enter the homes by smashing a window or forcing open a patio door and searched through all the rooms. Investigations have been launched.
Moreover, at around 00:15 on Sunday police were alerted to two suspects who were trying the door handles of vehicles on Rue de l’École in Garnich. As part of an immediate search operation, two suspects matching the description were located in the surrounding area.
During a security search, items believed to be stolen property were found, including two bank cards issued in other people’s names. The owners of the bank cards were identified and live on a nearby street. When questioned, the cardholders confirmed that their vehicles had been broken into. Other items found in the suspects’ possession were also identified as stolen property.
On the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, both men were arrested and will be brought before an investigating judge on Sunday 13 September. Following a medical examination, both were taken to the CPU in Sanem.
