On Wednesday 19 August 2026, Luxembourg's national weather service MeteoLux issued a yellow weather warning (indicating "potential danger") for thunderstorms across the country.
The nationwide warning is in place from 17:00 until 23:00 on Wednesday.
According to MeteoLux, thunderstorms may bring between 15 and 30 mm of rain over a short period, as well as hail and the possibility of intense, highly localised wind gusts.
The weather service forecast mostly dry conditions during the afternoon, with cloudy to heavily overcast skies and some sunny spells. A band of rain and thunderstorms is expected to cross the country in the evening, bringing sustained rainfall, while local thunderstorms, hail and strong wind gusts cannot be ruled out.
Temperatures are forecast to reach between 19°C and 21°C in the north and between 22°C and 24°C in the south on Wednesday afternoon, before falling to 16°C to 18°C and 18°C to 20°C, respectively, in the evening.
