On Tuesday 21 July 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported on two instances of drink driving which occurred overnight near Differdange and in Esch-sur-Alzette.
According to the police, on the evening of Monday 20 July, a road traffic accident involving two vehicles occurred at a roundabout near Differdange. While attempting to change lanes, one driver collided with a second vehicle. No one was injured. During the recording of the accident, police officers observed clear signs of alcohol consumption by the driver suspected of causing the accident. A subsequent alcohol test was positive. The driver was prohibited from continuing his journey and his driving licence was withdrawn. A report was drawn up.
Later, in the early morning of Tuesday 21 July, a driver was checked on the premises of a petrol station in Esch-sur-Alzette. Officers detected the smell of alcohol on the driver and an alcohol test returned a positive result. Following this, the driver’s licence was withdrawn and the vehicle was immobilised. During the inspection, it was also established that no valid insurance could be provided for the vehicle and that the road tax sticker had expired. A report was drawn up.
