This Sunday 24 February 2018 will mark the National Day of Resistance in Luxembourg.

Every February, the Grand Duchy commemorates the men and women who engaged in resistance during the Second World War, especially those who were sent to prisons and camps as a result.

In 1997, the Luxembourgish Resistance organised the first "National Day of Resistance", which would be repeated every year upon the decision of the "National Council of the Resistance”. The date is symbolic in commemorating the 23 Resistance leaders who were shot dead in the Hinzert forest on 25 February 1944, as well as the victims killed during the strike of September 1942.
