On Wednesday 10 August 2022, Luxembourg's Information and Press Service (SIP) announced that it has republished the brochure "About... Languages in Luxembourg".

This document is part of the "About..." series that aims to highlight specific aspects of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. The publication has been revised and enhanced and comes with a new layout.

The brochure succinctly outlines the origins and the development of multilingualism in Luxembourg, the use of languages in everyday life, such as in politics, in the workplace, at school and in the media, languages in the cultural sphere and measures to promote the Luxembourgish language. A QR code at the end of the brochure takes readers to a website containing useful links, thus allowing those interested to delve further into some of the aspects covered in the brochure.

The 20-page brochure is available in French, German, English and Luxembourgish.

The document starts off addressing the origins and development of multilingualism in Luxembourg and then goes on to cover its uses, which depends on the context. It continues with languages in the cultural sphere and measures to promote the Luxembourgish language, and concludes by asking what the future holds.

Like other publications of the Information and Press Service, the brochure can be read, downloaded and/or ordered online at www.gouvernement.lu and www.luxembourg.lu, under the header "Publications". It can also be ordered by email: edition@sip.etat.lu.
