The 42nd edition of the National Literary Competition (Concours littéraire national) will focus on children's and youth literature in the Luxembourgish, French, German and / or English languages.

Created in 1978 by Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture, the National Literary Competition aims to encourage literary creation in the Grand Duchy. Each year the competition has a different subject, with the coming year focussing on children and young people's literature.

The competition consists of two prize categories: one for adult authors, the other for young authors aged 12 to 19. Children's and youth literature will be awarded a separate award through a double prize system:

Children's literature (readership: up to 12 years old)

- 1st prize in the “adult authors” category will receive €5,000
- 1st prize in the “young authors aged 12-19” category will receive €2,000 

Children's literature (readership: 12 years and up)

- 1st prize in the “adult authors” category will receive €5,000
- 1st prize in the “young authors aged 12-19” category will receive €2,000

The 2021 National Literary Competition is open to all authors of Luxembourg nationality, residents and / or those who have their fixed or predominant place of work in the Grand Duchy. 

The deadline for submitting manuscripts is Monday 28 June 2021.

The jury of the competition is composed of Anne-Marie Antony, Claude Kremer, Romain Sahr, Tamara Sondag and Jeff Thill.
