The Ministry of Culture today announced that the subject of the 2016 edition of the National Literary Contest will be all genres of childhood and youth literature in Luxembourgish, French, German or English.
The competition has been organised annually by the Ministry since 1978 with the aim of stimulating literary creation in the Grand Duchy.
For the 2016 event, childhood and youth literature will be awarded separately through a double bonus system, with the childhood literature manuscripts submitted to cater to a readership of up to 12 years, with the jury awarding a First Prize of €5,000 and a contribution to a tour of public reading across Luxembourg and the Greater Region, provided that the manuscript is published in the 18 months following the award.
On the other hand, the manuscripts for the youth literature award will cater to an audience of 12 years and above, with the same prize available to the award winner.
The 2016 contest is open to all authors, regardless of age, of Luxembourgish nationality and/or residence. The deadline for submitting manuscripts is Friday 1 July 2015.
