In front of a large attentive audience, student Giulia Pagliarini won First Prize at the tenth Reading Contest at Mersch's Kulturhaus on 25 June 2015.

In the final, Giulia first read an excerpt from Luxembourg author Josy Braun's 'Numia', then an extract from Guy Rewenig's new book 'Tortikolli' as her chosen 'unknown' piece.

The competition was fierce: in total, fifteen students read something in German; three in French and one in Luxembourgish. The nineteen finalists were chosen from some 3,500 students from around the country who participated in the different stages of the competition. Each finalist received a book-prize, with the winner earning themselves a purchase from a bookshop. Besides Giulia Pagliarini, the finalists were:

Stephany Barbosa Da Costa, Nina Belkacem, Mara Bour, Lente De Breucker, Telma Ferreira, Noah Haas, Sally Keilen, Amy Kleman, Camila Klosen, Kathrin Kühne, Joy Michels, Nissi Ndoko, Sophya R’Biaa, Lea Schmalen, Christophe Scheuer, Amelie Teferle, Florian Thill, Massimo Weirig.

The 'Virlies-Concours' is organised every year by the Service de Coordination et de l'Innovation Pédagogiques et Technologiques department in the Ministère de l'Education Nationale, de l'Enfance et de la Jeunesse in order to promote reading.
