As part of its strategic expansion, Luxembourg-based law firm BSP has launched its Nordic Desk.

According to BSP, Luxembourg is viewed in the Nordic countries as one of the preferred gateways to Europe and beyond for financial businesses. At the same time, many of the largest Nordic financial institutions have set up offices in the Grand Duchy. Danish fund initiators established in Luxembourg currently represent a net asset value of approximately €93.313 billion and 2% of the market. Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark appear among the top 15 countries in terms of registration of Luxembourg funds for distribution.

The Nordic Desk is led by Isabel Høg-Jensen and is focussed on a pragmatic approach to structuring alternative investment vehicles. Ms Høg-Jensen has a deep understanding of the Nordic market and the constraints applicable to Nordic financial institutions as well as the requirements and constraints of Luxembourg stakeholders (service providers and regulator). Sustainable finance is also one of the key areas on which the Nordic Desk will focus.

“We see Nordic players having an increasing importance in the Luxembourg market”, said Evelyn Maher, Head of Investment Management Department. “For this reason, we have structured a highly motivated team around this project in order to give fund promoters and initiators the best support in selecting the appropriate fund structure be it regulated or unregulated alternative fund vehicles or undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities. Our clients can also benefit from our well-established network with leading Danish and other Nordic law firms”.

BSP (Bonn Steichen & Partner) is an independent full-service law firm based in Luxembourg.
