Luxembourg's Minister of Justice Sam Tanson held discussions today with the State Attorney General, the presidents of the Superior Court of Justice, the Administrative Court, the Administrative Tribunal, the district courts and with the presiding justices of the peace to discuss a strategy for resuming the activities of the prosecution and the courts following the announcement of a gradual lifting of containment measures.

On this occasion, Sam Tanson thanked all of the actors for their good collaboration, particularly in the drafting of texts allowing the judicial authorities to continue to work in reduced service and thus guaranteeing citizens' access to justice during the duration of the state of emergency.

Courts are now preparing to return to a normalised operation during the month of May, in compliance with the sanitary measures imposed by the government.

The way out of the crisis was also discussed during an exchange with the president of the Luxembourg and Diekirch bars. The Minister of Justice also inquired about the situation of lawyers, some of whom are in a precarious financial situation due to the reduced functioning of the courts. Sam Tanson has reaffirmed the government's desire to find support for these lawyers and will remain in close contact with the bars to assess the situation on the ground.
