On Thursday 20 March 2025, Luxembourg's employment agency, ADEM, reported that there were 19,460 resident jobseekers available for work at the end of February 2025; the unemployment rate increased to 5.9% (up from 5.8% in January 2025).

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM as of 28 February 2025 stood at 19,460, an increase of 1,294 individuals (or 7.1%) compared to February 2024.

The increase particularly affected jobseekers registered with ADEM for twelve months or more, as well as jobseekers over the age of 30 and the most qualified jobseekers (university graduates). Regarding professions, the most significant increases concerned the road transport driving, accounting, culinary production and banking sectors.

The number of new resident registrations once again slightly decreased. A total of 2,512 residents registered with ADEM in February 2025, marking a decrease of 42 individuals (or 1.6%) compared to February 2024.

The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits has increased by 531 individuals (or 5.2%) year-on-year, reaching 10,803 as of 28 February 2025. The number of individuals benefiting from employment support measures remained stable over one year, at 4,429.

In February 2025, employers reported 3,482 vacant positions to ADEM, representing a 10.6% increase compared to February 2024. Construction trades recorded the most significant recent increases. The total number of available positions at the end of the month was 7,202, marking an increase compared to the two previous months but a decrease (-6.8%) compared to February 2024. This decrease mainly impacted the accounting, banking, law and warehousing professions.
