The Grand Ducal Police have launched their 2024/2025 recruitment drive.
The launch was announced at a press conference on Thursday 3 October 2024, in the presence of Luxembourg's Minister for Home Affairs, Léon Gloden, the Director General of the Police, Pascal Peters, the Deputy Director General, Alain Engelhardt, and the Central Director of Resources and Skills, Francis Lutgen.
As in previous years, the police will carry out a large-scale recruitment operation in the coming weeks in treatment groups A1, B1 and C1 of the police framework, with 200 B1/C1 and five A1 positions to be filled.
Registration for the special test to become a police officer is open on the following dates: A1 from 4 to 12 December 2024; B1 from 31 October to 15 November 2024; C1 from 15 to 29 November 2024. Registration is reserved exclusively for candidates who have passed the general aptitude test ("Staatsexamen") in the respective treatment groups.
At the press conference, Minister Gloden recalled the three pillars on which a modern police force is based: sufficient personnel, modern equipment and adequate infrastructure. "To ensure a better sense of security, the government is focusing on the principle of the 4 Ps: personnel - presence - proximity - prevention," he noted.
Director General Peters stressed the need to continue recruitment efforts in the various treatment groups of the police framework, but also among civilians. After reviewing the evolution of the police force in recent years, he specified that the staff reinforcements will allow the police to better fulfil its objective of more proactive police work.
Before presenting the key dates for police recruitment in 2024/2025, Alain Engelhardt reviewed the latest B1 and C1 police recruitments. Based on previous application numbers, the Deputy Director General noted that the recruitment of 200 trainee civil servants remains a "major challenge" for the police.
The police will organise the next edition of its recruitment information day on Saturday 19 October 2024 from 14:00 to 17:00. This meeting at the Findel Police School offers candidates interested in a police career an opportunity to learn about the recruitment procedure and police training, as well as to exchange with representatives of different police units. In addition, participants can familiarise themselves on site with the sports test.
The police will also organise information sessions at the regional level (from 17:00 to 20:00 on each date) as follows: in Luxembourg-Verlorenkost on Monday 21 October; in Grevenmacher on Tuesday 22 October; in Diekirch on Wednesday 23 October; in Differdange on Thursday 24 October.
The registration procedures for the various events will be communicated "shortly".
A new media campaign will accompany the registration period for the special events. This campaign has been developed jointly by the police and the Ministry of Home Affairs with an external partner. The chosen concept is based on the notion of security and is structured around the slogan "D’Police ass do fir eis Sécherheet. Du brauchs si, a si brauch dech. Gëff Deel vun der Ekipp!" (English: The police are there for our safety. You need the police and they need you. Be part of the team!).
The campaign targets young school leavers, as well as women and men in professional retraining, all of whom are interested in protecting people.
