Luxembourg employment agency ADEM recently organised a "job day" for 50 former Cardoso employees and 150 other jobseekers.
Following the recent bankruptcy of the Cardoso construction company, ADEM, in collaboration with the Fédération des Artisans, held a job fair aimed at helping former employees quickly find a new job.
The job day served as an opportunity for 50 employees affected by the bankruptcy to meet directly with recruiters in the construction sector. A total of nineteen companies looking for workers took part in the event, after having expressed their interest to ADEM advisers, trade unions and the Fédération des Artisans.
The event thus enabled face-to-face meetings between candidates and recruiters, offering them a platform to discuss skills, needs and opportunities.
In addition to former Cardoso employees, 150 jobseekers registered with ADEM and corresponding to the profiles sought by the participating companies also had the opportunity to meet recruiters.
Speaking about this initiative, Luxembourg's Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Georges Engel, said: "The difficult situation faced by the workers affected by the bankruptcy of Cardoso as well as by other companies in the construction sector is a major concern for us. It is crucial to provide them with rapid and concrete support to help the employees concerned reintegrate into the job market; this is all the more important as the sector is faced with a critical shortage of skilled workers."
