According to ADEM, Luxembourg's unemployment agency, the number of resident jobseekers available for work as of 30 April 2022 stood at 14,269; over one year, this represents a decrease of 3,980 people, or 22%.

The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, dropped to 4.7%.

Figures were down for all categories of jobseekers, including those who had been registered with ADEM for more than twelve months. However, the long-term unemployed still represented 48.7% of all available resident jobseekers.

The number of new registrations remained relatively low in April 2022. A total of 2,516 residents registered with ADEM during the month in question, a drop of two people (or 0.1%) compared to April 2021. According to STATEC, the 2,516 new registrations include 221 registrations of beneficiaries of temporary protection, mainly in relation to the crisis in Ukraine.

The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefit fell by 2,319 or 23% over one year, to 7,764..

The number of resident jobseekers assigned to an employment measure stood at 4,506 as of 30 April 2022. Over one year, this constitutes a decrease of twelve people, or down 0.3%.

During the month of April 2022, employers declared 4,134 vacancies to ADEM, which corresponds to an increase of 40.8% over one year. The total number of positions available at the end of April 2022 stood at 12,684 (up 53% compared to the previous year).
