Jos Sales, Vice President of the Fédération Luxembourgeoise des Exploitants d'Autobus et d'Autocars (FLEAA), has been re-elected Executive President of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) World Association.
Jos Sales won the vote at the IRU General Assembly which took place on 8 November 2019 in Geneva. For the next two years, along with new IRU President Radu Dinescu, he will renew his mandate as a member of the Executive Presidency. Jos Sales will continue to work to defend the interests of coach and bus companies on an international level.
In his speech, Jos Sales thanked all the partners from all over Europe and beyond for the confidence they expressed in their vote and said: "The transport sector is currently in a period of great change. It will be more digital, more connected, more automated. This is an evolution that we will not be able to stop. It is therefore important to continue to be one of the actors at an international level".
Jos Sales is currently still President of the Council of Transport of Persons (CTP), in which he has been strongly involved over the past two years. His commitment and tenacity have allowed not only a reorganisation of the CTP but also highlighted the transport of passengers within the IRU. Patrick Westerlinck, from the Belgian federation FBAA, will replace him in this role from January 2020 for a two-year term.
