Christel Dumont has joined the Luxembourg office of Dentons as Of Counsel in Real Estate and Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practices.
Having assisted international companies on complex and major local real estate transactions, Christel focuses on acquisitions, leasing, asset management issues, property management, building renovations, environmental matters, lessor/tenant or construction disputes, and real estate security packages.
She has more recently focused and gained experience in transactions involving the construction of shopping centres. Christel has been praised by renowned independent legal rankings for her deep knowledge of the real estate market from both a legal and technical perspective.
Christel has been named Fellow of INSOL International and is recognised for her experience in turnaround and cross-border insolvency matters. She is well-skilled in the tools needed for the recognition of insolvency proceedings in multiple jurisdictions, including the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency, the European Community Regulation on Insolvency Proceedings and Chapter 15 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.
She will be advising clients on workouts and turnarounds, corporate and debt restructurings, pre-insolvency issues, directors' liability, bankruptcy proceedings, voluntary liquidations, COMI shift issues and complex cross-border insolvencies.
Christel will be working closely with partner Martine Gerber-Lemaire and will enhance Real Estate and Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practices at the Luxembourg office.
Christel has joined Dentons from her previous role as senior counsel at Luxembourg law firm Bonn Steichen & Partners. Prior to that, she was partner at OPF Partners (now Dentons) and an in-house lawyer at Credit Lyonnais Luxembourg.
