On Friday 22 April 2016, Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmit, visited the Yolande cooperative society at its site in Mondorf-les-Bains.
The Yolande cooperative operates two production and service facilities and employs 24 disabled members of staff who work at the bakery and mailing service.
Minister Schmit recognised the inclusive approach practiced by Yolande, with the organisation of work and tools developed to reflect the skills of each person employed and rely on their ability to learn and change.
After visiting workshops and speaking with employees, the Minister discussed job creation prospects on current Yolande sites (Païperleksgaart, Betzdorf and Mondorf-les-Bains) with managers, as well as site planning.
Considered as economic units of production and service, workshops contracted with the Ministry of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy combine the social and economic.
Last week Inspiring More Sustainability (IMS) Luxembourg released a new guide aiming to answer the questions of employers and businesses regarding hiring people with a disbility as a means of encouraging action in the country.
