Statec, Luxembourg's national statistical office, has published a report listing the top employers in Luxembourg as at 1 January 2015.
The list is based on a non-mandatory annual survey of companies and groups of companies located in Luxembourg and employing at least 90 people on 1 January 2015. It covers the activities of industry, construction, trade and most services activities.
Top 10 Employers in Luxembourg as at 1 January 2015
1. ArcelorMittal Group (steel): 4,260 (up from 4,200 at 1 January 2014)
2. POST Luxembourg Group (telecom): 4,230 (up from 3,990 at 1 January 2014)
3. Cactus Group (retail): 4,150 (up from 3,990 at 1 January 2014)
4. CFL Group (railway): 4,060 (up from 3,970 at 1 January 2014)
5. BNP Paribas Group (finance): 3,890 (down from 4,060 at 1 January 2014)
6. Dussmann Group Luxembourg (cleaning): 3,270 (up from 3,110 at 1 January 2014)
7. Goodyear Dunlop Tires Operations SA (rubber manufacturing): 3,250 (no change)
8. Luxair SA (air transport): 2,480 (up from 2,390 at 1 January 2014)
9. PwC Group (accountancy): 2,420 (up from 2,280 at 1 January 2014)
10. Fondation Hopitaux Robert Schuman (hospital): 2,190 (no details from 2014)
Apart from these private sector employers, two public-sector employers have more staff: the Luxembourg state with 26,670, and Luxembourg City with 3,857.
