The Opderschmelz cultural centre in Dudelange has announced that Criss Cross Europe 2016 and Louis Sclavis Silk 4tet will perform at a two-part Jazz evening on 15 October 2016 from 19:30 in the centre’s Grand Auditorium.

Opderschmelz has organised a two-part Jazz evening in partnership with Music:LX and Criss Cross Europe. The latter along will perform at 19:30 in the cultural centre, followed by a performance by the Louis Sclavis Silk 4tet at 21:00.

Criss Cross Europe is a European project created to support young Jazz musicians from several countries across the continent. It allows these musicians to meet, work, create and produce together under the instruction of an experienced Jazz expert. Currently, Criss Cross Europe has five partners across Europe: JazzLab Series, Gent (Belgium); Jazzwerkuhr, Dortmund (Germany); Music Centre Slovakia, Bratislava (Slovakia); Music:LX, Luxembourg City (Luxembourg); Trytone, Amsterdam (Netherlands). This year’s chosen Luxembourgish musician is saxophonist Maxime Bender.

Frenchman Louis Sclavis is often described as one of the most original, creative and talented musicians on the European Jazz scene. The Guardian has referred to him as “one of the most consistently satisfying, yet surprising jazz-driven composer-players in Europe.”

Tickets for the event cost €20 in advance or €25 on the night. Free with Kulturpass. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at www.opderschmelz.lu.
