On Saturday 25 July 2015, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office's (LCTO) annual Blues'n'Jazz Rally will take place, with a total of 57 concerts held at Luxembourg's UNESCO World Heritage Site fortress.
The unique setting of the jazz and blues festival attracts thousands of music fans and regionally- and internationally-renowned musicians. This year 57 concerts will take place in twelve cafés and restaurants, with eleven outdoor stages nestled in the ramparts of the Grund and Clausen.
All forms of blues and jazz will be performed, including blues-rock; rockabilly; Chicago blues; funk; boogie-woogie; reggae blues; Dixieland; New Orleans; mainstream; fusion and vocal jazz. Performers will be equally varied, with the line-up incorporating, amongst many, Hanna Schörken 4tet; Nicole Johäntgen & Band; Mo’Blow; Nakodje; Soundgesellschaft; Preston Shannon Band; Meena Cryle & Chris Fillmore Band; Doghouse Sam & his Magnatones; Jersey Julie Band; Marc Stone and Sonny Rhodes Blues Band.
The Blues'n'Jazz Rally was originally created by the LCTO in 1995, as a contribution to the cultural year of 'Luxembourg, European Capital of Culture 1995'. Since then, the Rally has evolved in scale, reputation and popularity and has become well-known in Luxembourg's music scene as an evening of liveliness and creativity.
The LCTO decided the jazz components of this year's programme, which forms part of the 'Summer in the City' programme, whilst the blues bands were chosen by Blues Club Lëtzebuerg. Cafés and restaurants will offer all-nighters, whilst the outdoor concerts will end at 01:00.
As usual, an ambulance team, security officers and firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Service will be on hand to ensure the safety of the public.
