Luxembourg will be participating in the ITB Asia trade fair in Singapore and the Tourism Expo Japan in Osaka from 16 to 25 October 2019.

Luxembourg's Minister of Tourism, Lex Delles, will be travelling to Singapore as part of the promotion of Luxembourg as a tourist destination and the positioning of the Grand Duchy as a central player in the professional events sector. Indeed, Luxembourg will have its own stand at the ITB Asia trade fair in Singapore, the largest tourism fair in the Asian market. Several private partners will accompany the official stand.

In order to promote Luxembourg as an attractive tourist destination among representatives of the Asian sector, tourism seminars will be held with operators from Singapore, China, South Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia. An interview with Chaly Mah, Chairman of the Singapore Tourism Board, is also scheduled.

In addition, Lex Delles, who is also Luxembourg's Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, will meet with Kathy Lai, Deputy Executive Director of Enterprise Singapore, a government agency that supports business development in Singapore. Enterprise Singapore is recognised worldwide as a reference and "Best Practice" for services offered to SMEs and start-ups in the context of their creation and development. Minister Delles will also visit various Singaporean companies.

The Minister of Tourism will continue his official visit with a trip to the Tourism Expo Japan fair in Osaka, where he will have the opportunity to meet several actors of the "Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions" (MICE) sector. Indeed, a Luxembourg stand will be present at the fair. Minister Delles will then meet with Etsuko Kawasaki, Director of the Japan Convention Bureau in Osaka, where he will also visit the Congress Convention Center.

During these meetings and visits, Lex Delles will take stock of the professional events sector, which has considerable potential for growth in Luxembourg and which enhances the image and visibility of the Grand Duchy at the international level. This is the reason why the 2018-2023 government programme aims to make Luxembourg's MICE tourism sector one of the 50 best destinations for the organisation of international congresses.
