Luxembourg's Ministry of Social Security has announced that the new "Cité de la sécurité sociale" building will open its doors to insured persons on Monday 5 June 2023.
The social security institutions and administrations located in the "Office des assurances sociales" building in Luxembourg-Hollerich have relocated to the new "Cité de la sécurité sociale" at 4 Rue Mercier in Luxembourg-Gare.
Here on a single site, insured persons will find the State Office for Assessment and Monitoring of the long-term care insurance (Administration d'évaluation et de contrôle - AEC), the Social Security Medical Board (Contrôle médical de la sécurité sociale - CMSS), the National Health Fund (Caisse nationale de santé - CNS), the Joint Social Security Centre (Centre commun de la sécurité sociale - CCSS) and the Accident Insurance Association (Association d'assurance accident - AAA).
The 52,197 m2 building features eighteen reception counters, a waiting room with 220 seats and a conference centre with a multipurpose room for 150 people. According to the ministry, its proximity to Luxembourg's Central Railway Station makes access easier for policyholders. The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) is also set to provide six parking spaces for people with reduced mobility on Rue du commerce, next to the entrance of the new building.
According to the ministry, the move was necessary in order to be able to meet the needs of the various organisations, which required a larger space for their increasing staff. The telephone numbers of the organisations remain unchanged with the exception of the CMSS (tel.: 247-67500) and the postal addresses remain the same.
The project is divided into two phases. Following completion of the first phase in May 2023, the second phase of construction will launch in autumn 2023. This second building will house in the medium term the National Pension Insurance Fund (Caisse nationale d'assurance pension - CNAP), the Children's Future Fund (Caisse pour l'avenir des enfants - CAE) and Luxembourg's pension fund, the Fonds de compensation (FDC).
